Toshiba's IK-1000 is an extreme low-light camera that captures high-resolution color surveillance video at 30 frames-per-second in starlight conditions. Incorporating a Peltier active cooled electron-multiplying CCD or EMCCD, the IK-1000 exhibits a minimum illumination of 0.00025 lux or approximately 30 times that of a standard low-light camera. The IK-1000's EMCCD sensor amplifies very low light signals above the read noise floor of a CCD, eliminating read noise and rendering the camera "single photon" sensitive for use in overcast starlight conditions. Coupled with the camera's 12dB gain control function, the 1/2-inch sensor provides images at resolutions up to 658 x 496 in illumination levels at or above moonlight. The camera operates across the entire light range, from bright sunlight to overcast starlight, making it ideal for 24/7/365 surveillance.
